Once called home

It’s a quite morning in the old town once called home, so here I sit, always alone

The people are the same, their faces remain unchanged

I’ve walked these street at 4 in the morning, right before the day was dawning

Many memories have been shared, many of which I showed that brief truth that I did care

Lot’s are happy with their lives, none stopping to question or ask the why’s

An imagined sense of peace they have found, this is priceless and can;t be attained by any amount of rupees, dollars or pounds

Breathe, calm your soul, take it all in because eventually you’ll be nothing more than a once faded memory lost in the wind.



I am the soul of my sword

Not known to life and unknown to death

Through countless battles my iron will has been forged

Steel is my bones

Fire was my blood

With a heart made of glass I stood alone, intoxicated by the lust for vengeance

Thus, this life has no meaning

Love stories no more

What happened to love stories?

The classic ones that has the first act of mutual distaste for one another, followed by the second with lead clumsy fumbling & unintentional flirting with that ever heart catching ‘eyes meet, face to face, close enough to kiss’ before they pull away, only to kiss not long after and leave the audience in cheer and glee.

The electricity, do you remember what that spark feels like?

I can.

Then we had the third act of struggle and strife where the shit hits the fan and all seems lost before the final 4th act where it all comes together and ‘true love’ shines through, thus leaving our protagonists to live happily ever after?

What happened to those stories?

They made people feel good and gave them some kind of hope that one day it might happen to them.

These days people have demanding things become so PC that a classic romance is now seen as something sordid and depreciative. Come on people, it’s a romance, it’s mean to make you feel good and escape reality, to fill you with hope, not bog you down with modern problems of a socially bias nature.

It doesn’t matter which person is in which role, a guy falling for a girl int he classic way or a girl falling for a guy where she takes the lead, it doesn’t matter, what matter is the story and what we get from it, a sense of hope that one day we might have that.

Too often people want absolute control over everything, for it all to fit a certain and now ‘accepted’ way of life.

Think back to the days where you could go up to someone in a coffee shop and ask them for their number or to go on a date, what magical times they were. You do that now and you’ll be caused of sexual harassment or told they don’t need you to validate them, what utter tripe.

People have lost the ability to take a compliment these days.

It’s sad, many have also lost that which makes love so special – letting go and taking a chance.

I guess in the modern age we don’t have time for love stories any more.


A quick post on kettlebells.

I love kettlebells.

Okay there is a little more.
Kettlebells are all the gym you’ll ever need.
Did you know that some people truly detest training, they literally hate it.
It’s a means to an end and the thought of going to the gym several days a week just bores them.
Enter the Kettlebell.
A humble tool that will change your body composition with 7 simple movements, you could do it with as little as 1, however 7 will give you some variety.
They are:
– Swings (double, single, overhead)
– Snatch
– Clean & Jerk (or strict press or push press)
– Squat (goblet or single/double rack or overhead single/double)
– Renegade Row
– Windmill (or 2 hand anyhow for more advanced greviks)
– Get Up
Why these 7?
They will cover CV, Strength, Endurance, Mobility and above all else they’re fun.
You can pick one lift per training session or perhaps use 2 or three, it’s dealers choice.
A suggestion:
Warm up with swings each workout
Day 1 –
Clean & Jerk followed by Windmill followed by Overhead Squat (yep a combination to create a mini complex)
1 rep of each, repeat for 30min
Day 2 –
Snatch – 15 rep arm OMEM 20min
Get up – 1 each arm repeat for 20min
Day 3 –
Clean & Jerk – 4 blocks of 5min (no putting the bells down int he 5min blocks) – rest 2.5min
Renegade Row – 50 reps per arm
We haven’t even looked at one of my favourite complexes either –
Use 2 kettlebells, 5 reps of each exercise:
– Swings
– Snatches
– Clean
– Squat
– Press
– Renegade Row
– Rest & repeat
Do either 5-10 rounds or a 30min solid block of AMRAP – rest as needed.
If you have an array of kettlebells, say 3 pairs – 16/24/32kg, you’ll have more than enough to completely change your body.
Honestly, kettlebells are the best.
